12-12-2024 Evaluation of The Bridge Program in the Development of Global Skills: Perceived Benefits by Its Participants
This research opportunity aims to understand the experience of UC School of Engineering students participating in the Bridge program, with a particular focus on the development of their global skills. Through a comprehensive review of the literature on the internationalization of higher education and the collection of data through interviews with program participants, the goal is to identify the intercultural competencies acquired, as well as the perceived challenges and benefits. The results of this study will provide valuable information to improve and adapt future internationalization initiatives, contributing to the knowledge about the effectiveness of such programs in the context of higher education.

10-12-2024 Engineering Education with a Gender Focus: Pedagogical Practices and Student Perceptions
This undergraduate research aims to identify the perceptions of students and teachers about engineering education with a gender focus, centering on practices associated with the hidden curriculum and classroom teaching methodologies. The specific objectives include examining the pedagogical practices that contribute to the hidden curriculum and how these practices can influence students. Additionally, the perceptions of students regarding the inclusion of a gender perspective in the formal and informal curriculum will be investigated, aiming to create materials to support the teaching staff on gender issues in engineering education, and how this is reflected in their educational practices and interactions with students.

06-12-2024 Encouraging Recycling Behaviors in Chile
In the year 2023 started the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility and Recycling Promotion Law (REP Law) in the Packaging category, with the goal of achieving recycling rates of around 45%-70%. For the success of this initiative, the active involvement of citizens is fundamental. However, there is little information in Chile on the motivations, behaviors and challenges faced by different groups of people. The objective of this research is to identify archetypes of people around recycling and propose actions/incentives to mobilize them from the public-private sector. IDI2015 or similar courses would be an asset.

06-12-2024 Integration of GPT Chatbots in University Teaching: A Socratic Approach
This research opportunity aims to evaluate the use of a Socratic chatbot, based on GPT technologies, in enhancing the reflective capacity of university students. The chatbot will be integrated into classes to support both teachers and students in developing specific activities. The methodology includes a literature review on the use of chatbots in education and learning theories related to reflection and critical thinking. Additionally, the interaction of teachers and students with the chatbot during specific classes will be observed, along with other data collection mechanisms. The collected data will be analyzed to understand how the chatbot supports both teaching and university learning. It is worth noting that this opportunity continues from a previous undergraduate research project (IPre).
