10-12-2023 Implementation of a computational fluid dynamics model for a redox flow battery
The translation of your text in English is: Redox flow batteries (RFB) are a promising technology for renewable energy storage. These batteries allow the decoupling of power from storage capacity. Each battery consists of a set of cells, where in each cell an electrolyte flows that exchanges electrons and protons through a membrane. This process involves the transfer of mass, momentum, and electric charge, and is coupled to complex reaction kinetics. The objectives of this IPre are: - Conduct a literature review on the current state of CFD models for RFBs, with special attention to interfacial mass transfer - Propose improvements to existing models. - Learn to use the OpenFOAM CFD software - Implement simplified RFB models in OpenFOAM with the support of the research team. This IPre will provide students with a solid understanding of RFBs and skills in computational fluid dynamics.
